Romancing the Hop Blog Hop: My Favorite Romantic Gestures and Giveaway!

From August 31st to September 3rd, I’m happy to have readers hopping to my website to find out my favorite romantic gestures as well as to win one of my ebooks in a giveaway.

Justin Richardson and Shelbi Arrington from Cooking Up Love.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a hopeless romantic. I love watching classic love stories such as Casablanca, Stormy Weather, and My Fair Lady as well as newer movies such as Love and Basketball, The Notebook and You’ve Got Mail.  Romantic gestures from the heart have always made me smile. I’ve had quite a few over the years that have always stood out.  Picnics in the park, a song written for me, watching the stars fall in the night sky on the beach, a gift for no reason or an airplane ride (he was flying the plane). The most recent is when my husband gave me four rose bushes for Valentine’s Day and planted them for me. They bloom beautifully every year. In my latest novel, The Game of Seduction, the hero Rasheed Vincent is a playboy who has fallen hard for the heroine, Dr. Bria Arrington. He shows his romantic side by taking her ice-skating, even though he doesn’t know how and cooks dinner for her on a rainy night instead of going out to eat. He does something else, but you’ll have to read the book to find out. In my first novel, Cooking Up Love, the hero, Justin Richardson, flies to Las Vegas to surprise the heroine, Shelbi Arrington, who is there for a conference.

*****

When Shelbi Arrington accepts a position as a food critic in the hopes of burying her medical career and foregoing her residency, the last thing she’s searching for is love. However, that’s just what the doctor ordered especially when she lays eyes on the handsome chef, Justin Richardson. While sorting out her secret conflict of continuing her medical career, she falls for his mouthwatering charm, leaving her hungry for anything he has to offer.

Justin is leery of doctors because a doctor’s negligence caused his mother’s death when he was twelve. He has put his focus and energy into his restaurant, which had been a dream he and his mother shared. Justin is immediately smitten by the cute, sassy food critic that has him cooking up different ways to please her appetite. But when things start to heat up, Shelbi learns of a shocking revelation that could extinguish the flame of their relationship. Will Justin be able to forget his pain and commit to the woman who has stolen his heart?

Cooking Up Love is the first book in the Arrington Family Series.

But the condition he’s in makes him want a permanent dose of Bria’s love, and he’s ready for the shot. She knows falling in love with Rasheed is a prescription for trouble, yet she is willing to risk it. But can she trust him with her heart?

  4. Great post! I love when my hubby writes me poems, just out of the blue. My favorite one is from 3 years ago called the 11th mile, talking about how we met, fell in love and have stayed together despite everyone’s doubts. Next month marks wedding anniversary 15. 🙂

  5. One of the most romantic moments of my life…
I live in the Kansas City area, and at Christmastime, we’re very well known for our Plaza lights. It was snowing, and my boyfriend and I had just had a wonderful dinner. We were walking on the Plaza, and he said, “How about a carriage ride?” Um, in the snow?! How romantic! Absolutely!!! We were enjoying the lights and the snow, when he puts his arms around me and starts reciting to me my absolute favorite poem by memory! Then he tells me how much I mean to him, and how life is a journey to find the person you’re meant to be with. After he gives me a kiss, he opens a box, and inside is a BEAUTIFUL 3 carat diamond journey pendant! Not only was the carriage ride and poetry more than enough, he took it one step further and gave me a gift I’ll always wear near my heart 🙂 *sigh* Such a wonderful memory 🙂

    Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  7. My husband remembered the house keys the morning we left to go get married. I was a little scattered that day (!) and somehow that one act let me know I wasn’t going to need to do it ALL.
    😉

  8. My hubby gave me pearls for a wedding gift after he heard me asking a friend if I could borrow hers. He gave them to me right before pictures and I have a beautiful collage of that moment hanging on my wall. I wear them every year on our anniversary and some day I will give them to our daughter on her wedding day. Thank you for the giveaway.

  9. When we were dating, my now husband once met me at my parent’s house with a dozen roses in mixed colors and an album (yes, the vinyl kind) of the Oak Ridge Boys that I had been wanting. It was for no particular occasion, other than he wanted to, and I came home from college for the weekend. It was so sweet, and I took both back to college with me on Sunday!

  10. What a great hop! Grand prizes, old friends to visit and new ones to meet… and chances to win at each stop too. I’m in Blog heaven! :-}

My husband while on a cross country trip with his family (we were dating at that time) made them stop in several small towns so he could get me a coffee cup from each of them cause he knew I collected different coffee cups. I still have those cups to this day and we’ve been married for 22 years.

Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.

  12. Thanks for participating! Really like the hop so far!! I love reading, especially romance. I love reading contemporary, historical and erotic romance. I love the happy ending that is garenteed at the end. My favorite book is Lover Mine by JR Ward! I love John Matthew and Xhex. My favorite romantic moment was when my fiancé asked me to marry him! We meant two years ago right around when summer was ending when my friend and I went out for our last big night out before classes started again. I think it is romantic when he brings me flowers because no one else has ever done it! Thanks so much! Hope everyone else is having a great long weekend!!

    • Nice site — the books look fun. My favorite romantic gesture was when my husband and I were dating (he passed away in 2001 unfortunately) and he came over to apologize for an argument we had with a record album (this was before iPods and CDs) that was neatly wrapped and had a rose from his mom’s garden attached to it.

  15. The most romantic gesture I have ever received was when my husband had our house professionally cleaned before bringing our 5th son and me home from the hospital after his birth. He was born 1 week before Christmas and our house looked amazing. I got to rest and concentrate on our family and our new edition. I loved it.

  18. When my husband and I had only been dating a few weeks, I had to travel across the Pacific, and when I came home, I expected to take the subway home and sleep off my jet lag. Instead, he met me at the airport with flowers and kisses and took me home because he missed me so much.
