Hello romance readers!
This past weekend I attended the Romance Slam Jam Conference in New Orleans. I had an awesome time meeting authors and readers that I’ve met on Twitter or Facebook but not in person. One of my favorite moments of the conference was my book club meeting with Sistas Thoughts from Coast to Coast book club. We discussed the third book in the Arrington Family Series, Only One for Me as well as the prequel Simply Amazing. I learned a lot of about my characters that I didn’t even realize. One person mentioned that Cannon Arrington was self-absorbed in Simply Amazing. I just thought he was extremely busy with medical school and extracurricular/community activities. However, people interpret things differently, and I really had a wonderful time discussing the book with the ladies as well as learning about my characters all over again. Plus, it was my birthday and it was definitely a fun way to spend it!
Also, I know there were readers who truly wanted to attend the conference but weren’t able. I’m going to give away my conference bag including all of the books and goodies. Plus, I’m throwing in an autographed copy of my upcoming Harlequin Kimani Romance book, Her Perfect Candidate which will be released on June 1st. In order to win, all you have to do is tell me which character in the Arrington Family Series is your favorite and why. Please leave it in the comment section below. The giveaway ends on Thursday, May 15th at midnight, EST. I’ll announce the winner on Friday, May 16th in the comment section as well as on Twitter and Facebook. Good luck!
Thank you so much to everyone who has purchased a copy of Prescription for Desire. Its doing quite well on the Amazon charts and is currently in the top ten on the African-American and Multicultural lists! Would love to see it in the top five so spread the word for me that its definitely out. I’ve enjoyed reading the reviews, emails and Facebook messages from readers who loved Raven and Armand’s love story!
Since the death of her husband three years ago, Dr. Raven Arrington has found herself in the same mundane routine. Needing a change of scenery, she escapes to a little town outside of Buenos Aries to temporarily work at a medical facility. Raven didn’t realize what prescription for medicine she needed until she meets Chief of Staff, Dr. Armand Phillips. With just the right dose of desire, the gray-eyed, sinfully suave doctor awakens a part of her she’d suppressed.
Armand knows having a fling with a co-worker is a prescription for trouble, but the older, sophisticated doctor is like no other woman he’s met. He’s used to no responsibilities outside of his career and loves his freedom to travel wherever needed. However, Armand is willing to sacrifice it all in order to make Raven his—despite her reservations—and to give her what she wants more than anything.
Prescription for Desire is the fourth book in the Arrington Family Series.
I’m currently doing a giveaway with Goodreads. Five readers will win an autographed copy of Her Perfect Candidate. It ends on Friday, May 16th so be sure to stop by Goodreads and enter. Here’s the link. Book Giveaway for Her Perfect Candidate.
Co-owner of an up-and-coming interior-decorating firm, Megan Chase loves being a single woman on the fast track to success. But everything changes when a flat tire brings Georgia senator Steven Monroe into her life. The sinfully sexy politician needs the right woman to clean up his image. And with Megan’s fine eye for detail, she just may be the woman for the job.
Steven’s reputation as a player could cost him his chance at a U.S. senate seat. But when the cameras catch him and Megan in a kiss that’s all too real, it’s not only his future candidacy in jeopardy. As the lines between politics and desire begin to blur, how much will he risk to transform their passionate pretense into a landslide for love?
Her Perfect Candidate is the first book in the Chasing Love Series and is currently on pre order.
I hope everyone has a great week! I’ll be in the writing/editing cave working on the second book in the Chasing Love Series.

Well I hope you will eventually read them, hotcha1. I have another giveaway on Goodreads to win a copy of Her Perfect Candidate. The link is in the blog post.
Candace, I have enjoyed all of your books but I really enjoyed Prescription for Desire. My favorite character was Raven for the simple fact, she just lost her husband and the twins but she was able to gain two more in the end. I just loved how she took it all in stride. I love your work, I can’t for Her Perfect Candidate.
Kathy Dorhan
Raven is one of my favorites as well. Her Perfect Candidate will be out soon…can’t wait!
After thinking about it…Raven is my favorite! Throughout all of the previous books, she was quiet yet strong. I really couldn’t wait for her story. Raven didn’t let life knock her down…After losing her husband AND her babies I find it hard to see how she remained an OB-GYN. That leads me to believe she loved her craft so much she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Her instinct and caring attitude is what makes her a great MD so when she told Armand to back off and stood her ground on her decision for an incoming patient that hooked me!! Raven gets 2 thumbs up!
Yes, Raven is definitely a strong woman who has been through so much but keeps on pushing through. I’m glad you she’s your favorite!
I guess I should sign my name on the post to be considered lol.
Renee Moore
I have never read them either but they look fantastic!
Hi Christine! I have a free, short read, Simply Amazing. Its the prequel/part one of Only One for Me if you want to check out my writing.
Candace,
I’m glad you had a wonderful time at the Slam Jam. it’s always fun meeting and talking with new/old friends. Happy belated birthday as well. Sounds like you had much fun.
To answer your question, Shelbi Arrington is still my favorite. Torn between making a decision on Medical school and a food critic was a struggle. Loving Justin and trying to make it work despite the challenges showed me she was a strong determined woman who went after what she wanted.
I still like this book! It’s one of my favorites. Thanks for the opportunity.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I had loads of fun! Shelbi will always be one of my favorites since she’s my first heroine I published.
Raven is my favorite character and I am really looking forward to reading her story. I love her quiet strength, fortitude and dedication. She came back from the devastating losses, maintained her standing and footing as a great, directed and dedicated doctor.
Hi Rhea! I hope you enjoy Raven’s story and I really hope you like the hero I picked for her!
Hi Candace,
🙂 Looking forward to enjoying it.
Cannon is my favorite. He was willing to admit that he handled it all wrong but was insistent that he never stopped loving her! He refused to give up and won her back!!
Cannon is definitely my favorite hero thus far as well. He’s such a great guy!
My favorite character from the Arrington Family Series is Dr. Bria Arrington! Bria is that “different” family member, but in a good way lol. She’s the curly-haired sister who is attractive and intelligent. Bria always carries an opinion, she is the doctor in the family who uses alternative medicine, she stands firmly for what she believes, but she comes across as being a little rough around the edges, but only when she feels she needs to protect her feelings. To know Bria is to love her. She’s that ride or die chic that everyone would love to have as a friend. She is well rounded and she enjoys her family, practicing alternative medicine, sports, a good time and Rasheed!
Bria’s and Rasheed are in the Game of Seduction.
First let me say Happy Birthday!!!! Happy to hear you had an awesome time at RSJ2014. Now for the hard part. I can not narrow down my favorite character to just one. I fell in love with a different one at different times….lol My first love is Shelby from Cooking Up Love. She is one of my fave because she is a home town girl (Memphis, TN) 🙂 and second she is a food critic (needless to say I LOVE FOOD). 😉 From that same book I loved Bria and Rasheed’s cat and mouse love connection. Dr. Raven also has a piece of my heart because of the mystery that surrounds her in the stories leading up to hers (which I have yet to read, but soon). Now of course I cannot leave Yasmine and Dr. Cannon out of the equation. To see love lost, found, lost and to finally be found again is a rollercoaster I enjoy riding without limits. So there you have it. My confused and tangled mind on the Arrington clan. Thank you Candace for the adventure.
Doesn’t it make you feel good to see your city being represented…I loved knowing Memph. Was in her books..
I would have to say Raven. I believe she is my favorite because we both suffered the loss of our spouse. Her story gives me hope that even after losing myhusband of 30 years, there may still be someone else out there for me. Thank you for a very good story.
SHELBI is my FAV because of her attitude and her love of food and family she is different and not afraid to show it. I also loved Bria becAuse of her no non sense attitude and her devotion. Great characters from a great writer. Thanks sharing your talent. Hope you enjoyed yourself and Happy belated Birthday.
Hi! Wow well this is very hard since I am a fan of the Arrington family and I promise its not just because of the memphis roots hehe.. but honestly I would have to say all of the sisters are my favorite because they all bring something different to the table that women can relate to. Shelbi is obviously the strong willed one because she has her mind made up about being a food critic despite what everyone in her family is which are doctors in the end although she went back to medicine she still does food blogging. Bria is also a great one because she is the rebelous one because yes I will do what you want and become a doctor but dammit I am going to do it my way and study what I want. I loved her determination. And then their is raven wow I loved her because she went through a lot with loosing her husband and her babies and I can relate from losing a child myself but the fact that she still went though all that alone because she never told anyone about the twins and her being a twin can make that very hard since your twin feels everything you go through. Cannon new something just couldn’t place it. Raven was older but you really couldn’t tell because you brought her to life and she was fun and I pictured how fine Armand was so yeah I would have went for thr young man too lol… so hey I guess I do have a favorite after all its RAVEN!!!!
You are an awesome writer and thank you for allowing me to get over some of my home sickness by bring memphis back to me!!
Rasheed or Shelbi??? Shelbi was strong enough to choose her own way but she was also hiding from what happen in school. And that to me is real. We all hide from a mistakes we make in life. Sometimes it takes someone or thing to help us move on. So, Shelbi Is my favorite.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I believe Raven is might favorite thus far. I can relate to some of things she went through.
Sounds like you had an awesome time! And a belated Happy Birthday :-*
I haven’t read any of the Arrington Family Series, really have to get my butt reading >.<
Congrats to Renee Moore! And thank you to everyone who participated. I truly enjoyed reading who everyone’s favorites were! Looks like Raven wins!
