Look What Arrived on My Porch: Her Perfect Candidate

Around 5:15 Monday evening the doorbell rang and my dog did his usual gruff barking and loud growling as he darted toward the front door. When the husband isn’t home I rarely open the door unless I’m expecting company; however, I’d ordered some dresses last week (shhh…don’t tell my husband) and was hoping they would arrive before he came home from work around 5:30. I saw the UPS truck drive away, and I was filled with excitement and anxiety because I was also expecting my Harlequin Kimani books to arrive soon.

I think I almost fainted when I saw two boxes stacked on my front porch that read Harlequin in red ink but when I reached down to grab the first one, my dog skated passed and out onto the front lawn. In the rain. With no leash. He’s very obedient, but when I called him he looked at me over his shoulder and darted down the sidewalk. I demanded him to “come here” thinking he would as I bent down again but he ran toward the street.  I ran across the wet grass barefoot in the pouring rain to grab him. Luckily, he stopped at the edge of the driveway, and I was able to grasp his collar and pull a ninety pound, wet dog back into the house. I knew there would be excitement when the books arrived but not that kind of excitement!

Luckily, my boxes were safe from the rain under the porch cover and carried them inside. When I opened them (away from the wet dog) I saw these beautiful books, grabbed one and jumped up and down on the couch like Tom Cruise. I was just that in love.

I have to get back to editing Dr. Raven Arrington’s book, Prescription for Desire, before you guys camp out on my front lawn until it’s done.

Have a great weekend!
